Allocating Clinicians

Total Health Choice has many wonderful staff with their own personalities, professional skills and characteristics.

We think it is important to match our clinicians with our patients as well as possible. To achieve this, we ask questions over the phone and encourage people to share their preferences.

Importantly, our staff members are trusting, compassionate and caring, and you can be assured that all staff uphold these values.

Factors We Consider When Allocating Clinicians

  • Client preferences. Clients can express anything they would like from a clinician, and we will do our best to accommodate this. This may include a preference for a female or male clinician.
  • Client diagnosis. Our Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists each bring a range of experience. For example, some clinicians are highly skilled in referrals relating to mental health. We endeavour to allocate clinicians according to each patient’s diagnosis.
  • Location. We currently operate across South East and West Melbourne. We may also suggest allocation preferences that support efficient scheduling so more people can access healthcare.

We advocate for choice and control. When submitting a referral, please let us know any preferences you have.

  • Respecting your personal information

Privacy

Your privacy is important to the team at Total Health Choice.

You are able to keep any information private for any reason.

At the same time, we would like to remind people that information they choose to provide can be very helpful. This is particularly relevant for NDIS participants applying for funding and needing supporting evidence.

A confidentiality agreement is located within the Service Agreement and the participant handbook provided at the first assessment.

Adhering to Your Personal Preferences

Total Health Choice aims to work with you using the most effective approach to achieve your desired outcomes and goals.

We encourage you to let us know your personal preferences, and we will do our best to accommodate them. Where we cannot meet a request, we will let you know before the appointment.

Your preferences may include:

  • Respecting social, cultural or religious beliefs
  • Taking shoes off at the front door
  • Addressing you by your preferred name
  • Communicating with your family or support coordinator in the way you would like

The physical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive wellbeing of both patients and staff is our highest priority.

  • Choice over your care team

Can I Meet Several of Your Staff?

There are times when a person may engage Total Health Choice for an extended period, such as when undertaking rehabilitation for a chronic condition.

In these situations, it is important for you to have choice and control over the clinician supporting you.

We generally do our best to match you with a suitable clinician over the phone. Where you would like to meet several staff members, Telehealth may be an available option.

You are never locked into our services. You can cancel at any time, provide feedback or request an alternative clinician.
