Support for the Different Ways MS Can Affect Daily Life

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease that affects the central nervous system. Symptoms vary considerably from person to person and can change over time.

Every person’s situation is different. Our clinicians take time to understand the person’s current abilities, environment, goals and support network.

  • What support can focus on

Individual Needs, Goals and Everyday Priorities

Support is planned around what is important to the person, including the activities they want or need to do each day.

  • Muscle spasms, weakness, coordination and balance changes
  • Fatigue and sensitivity to heat
  • Vertigo, sensory changes or vision-related concerns
  • Continence, memory, concentration, reasoning or mood changes
  • Our allied health approach

Physiotherapy

Occupational Therapy

Home safety, daily living strategies, assistive equipment and support to manage fatigue.

Individualised Rehabilitation

A plan shaped around severity, functional ability, goals and the person’s everyday environment.

  • A clear support pathway

Step 2
Initial Assessment

The clinician considers the person’s current function, goals, environment and the practical support that may be helpful.

Step 3
Goal-Based Plan

Recommendations and therapy priorities are agreed around meaningful short and longer-term goals.

Step 4
Reviews and Adjustments

Support is reviewed and adapted as goals, function or circumstances change.
