Why Exercise Matters

Regular movement isn’t just about keeping fit — it’s the key to independence, safety and confidence.
Whether you want to keep up with the grandkids, garden without pain, or travel with ease — we’re here to help you get there.

Because strength, balance and confidence don’t just come with age — they come with practice.
And that’s where we come in.

At Total Health Choice, we help older adults move with more ease, laugh with more energy, and live with more independence.

Why Exercise Matters

Whether you’re rebuilding after a fall, managing arthritis, slowing down, or just tired of sitting more than moving

…our tailored classes will meet you where you’re at — and take you further than you thought possible.

Our classes will help with:

✅ Falls prevention (reduce risk by up to 28%)
✅ Stronger muscles & bones
✅ Better balance, brain health & mood
✅ Boost your confidence, energy and social life

At Total Health Choice, our team of allied health therapists support you every step of the way — with care, encouragement, and results you can feel.

Why Join Our Exercise Classes

We’re not just about exercise — we’re about helping you live better. Whether you want to stay on your feet, keep up with the grandkids, or simply feel more in control of your body — that’s what we’re here for.

With over 14 years of experience supporting older adults, we know what works and what doesn’t. We understand the challenges that come with ageing — the aches, the fears, the changes — and we know how to help you move through them safely and confidently.

Our classes are built around progress you can actually feel. We check in regularly, track your improvements, and tailor things to suit you. No cookie cutter programs — just real movement, guided by people who care and know their stuff.

You’ll leave each session feeling stronger, steadier and more in control — not just physically, but mentally too.

And above all? It’s the people. The connection. The sense of community. We’ve built a space where everyone is welcome, where you’ll be greeted with a smile, and where you’ll feel genuinely supported every time you show up.

Exercise Classes for Older Adults FAQ

  • Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No. You can self-refer. If your GP or specialist has specific precautions (e.g. pacemaker, joint replacement), bring their notes so we can tailor things safely.

  • Who runs the classes?

Every session is led by a registered physiotherapist or accredited exercise physiologist with advanced training in geriatrics.

  • How big are the groups?

We keep numbers comfortable and equipment plentiful, so you still get individual attention without feeling crowded.

  • Can I pay with my Home Care Package?

    Yes.

Group exercise and exercise physiology are claimable under the Allied Health & Therapy category and will remain claimable in the new Support at Home program from 1 November 2025.

  • I use a walking aid / have osteoporosis — am I safe to join?

    Absolutely.

Tai Chi’s low impact moves improve gait and cut falls risk, while progressive strength work rebuilds bone density and muscle.

Every exercise can be done seated or standing, and we adjust to your ability.

  • What should I wear or bring?

Comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes, and a water bottle.

We supply bands, dumbbells, mats and sturdy chairs for seated options.

  • How soon will I feel a difference?

Many members notice steadier steps and more confidence within four weeks; measurable strength gains often show up by week six, matching research on seniors’ resistance training.

  • Can I make up a missed class?

Yes — give us 24 hours’ notice and we’ll book you into another session that week.

  • Do you come to aged-care facilities?

    We do.

Total Health Choice partners with aged care homes, retirement villages and community centres across Melbourne to run on-site programs and staff in-services.

  • Post-surgery: when can I start?

Once your surgeon gives the all-clear — usually 6–12 weeks, depending on the procedure.
